Investment in building construction, December 2021
Investment in building construction increased by 1.9% to $18.4 billion in December. Gains were reported in both the residential and non-residential sectors.
Provisional death counts and excess mortality, January 2020 to November 2021
When the Delta variant was more prevalent, and prior to the emergence of the Omicron variant, Canada experienced a period of significant excess deaths from mid-August 2021 to the end of September 2021, which coincided with a period of increased COVID-19 deaths.

Fruit and vegetable farm-gate value rose 2.6% to $2.6 billion compared with 2020, despite the unfavourable weather conditions in certain parts of Canada. Harvested area increased 1.7% to 188 539 hectares over the last year.

Advertising and related services, 2020
Operating revenue in the Canadian advertising and related services industry decreased to $9.9 billion in 2020, in response to lower demand during the COVID-19 pandemic as consumer and workforce behaviours shifted. This number represents a decrease of 11.4% from 2019, with operating revenue reaching its lowest level since 2016.
Canadian business counts, December 2021
In December 2021, there were 1,300,633 employer businesses in Canada and 2,850,191 non-employer businesses with annual revenues greater than $30,000.
