Canadian international merchandise trade, December 2025
In December, Canada’s merchandise exports increased 2.6%, while imports were up 0.6%. As a result, Canada’s merchandise trade deficit with the world narrowed from $2.6 billion in November to $1.3 billion in December.
Employment Insurance, December 2025
There were 569,000 Canadians receiving regular Employment Insurance benefits in December 2025, little changed (+0.4%; +2,500) from the previous month.
Trends in reconvictions among adults sentenced to provincial custody or community supervision, 2015/2016 to 2020/2021
Adults released from provincial custody or starting a community sentence from 2019/2020 to 2020/2021 were 17% less likely to be reconvicted within one year than those released from custody or starting a community sentence from 2015/2016 to 2018/2019.
Canadian international trade in services, December 2025
Canada’s monthly international trade in services surplus widened from $0.1 billion in November to $0.7 billion in December. Overall, imports of services declined 2.2% to $19.4 billion, and exports of services increased 0.8% to $20.2 billion.
Balance sheet of the agricultural sector, December 31, 2024 (revised)
The value of Canada’s farm sector equity totalled $833.4 billion as of December 31, 2024, up $39.3 billion (+5.0%) from the same date one year earlier. Farm sector equity growth slowed for the first time in five years, as total liabilities (+14.5%) grew at a faster pace than total assets (+6.4%). Farm equity rose in every province, with gains in Saskatchewan (+10.0%) and Alberta (+5.7%) accounting for over two-thirds of the national increase.
