Quarterly financial statistics for enterprises, fourth quarter 2016
Canadian corporations earned $86.8 billion in operating profits in the fourth quarter, up 3.6% from the previous quarter.
Payroll employment, earnings and hours, December 2016
Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $971 in December, an increase of 1.0% from November and 1.2% from 12 months earlier.
Natural gas transmission, storage and distribution, December 2016
Natural gas transmission pipelines received 551.4 million gigajoules of natural gas from fields, gathering systems and plants in December. Seven provinces posted receipts, led by Alberta (69.4%) and British Columbia (27.6%).
Machinery and Equipment Price Index, fourth quarter 2016
The Machinery and Equipment Price Index (MEPI) increased 2.1% in the fourth quarter, following a 0.9% gain in the third quarter. The import component was up 2.6%, while the domestic component increased 0.8%.
Construction Union Wage Rate Index, January 2017
The Construction Union Wage Rate Index (including supplements) for Canada was unchanged in January compared with the previous month. The composite index increased 0.6% in the 12 months to January.
Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, December 2016
There were 327,236 aircraft take-offs and landings at the 91 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations in December 2016 compared with 331,081 movements in December 2015.
Milled wheat and wheat flour produced, December 2016
Millers milled 247 311 tonnes of wheat in December, while wheat flour production totalled 186 011 tonnes.
