To understand the direct and indirect consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to measure excess mortality, which occurs when there are more deaths than expected in a given period.
Stocks of frozen and chilled meats, January 1, 2023
Stocks of frozen and chilled meats in cold storage facilities totalled 139 825 tonnes as of January 1, 2023, increasing 0.6% following two quarters of steady decline (-6.5% from July to October 2022 and -6.8% from April to June 2022). The stocks were down 7.1% on January 1, 2023 from January 1, 2022.
