Employment Insurance, May 2023
The number of Canadians receiving regular Employment Insurance benefits rose by 9,800 (+2.5%) to 399,000 in May, the first increase since July 2022.
Canadian Internet Use Survey, 2022
Year over year, various trends in technology reflect a smarter and more connected lifestyle, benefiting both the younger and older generations. The year 2022 was no exception, with Internet use among Canadians aged 15 years and older reaching 95%, up from 92% in 2020.
Monthly credit aggregates, May 2023
In May, the total credit liabilities of households (including mortgage and non-mortgage loan debt) reached $2,857.8 billion, edging up 0.2% for the third consecutive month. Real estate secured debt, composed of both mortgage debt and home equity lines of credit, increased 0.1% (+$3.2 billion) to reach $2,291.2 billion in May.
Railway carloadings, May 2023
Canadian railways transported 30.7 million tonnes of freight in May, down 5.0% compared with May 2022, and the first such decline in 12 months. Strong growth in carloadings of grain tempered the overall decrease.

Infrastructure economic account, 2022
The Environmental Perspective page of the Infrastructure Statistics Hub has been updated with data for the reference year 2022. The environmental perspective on infrastructure provides insights into the relationship between investment in infrastructure and the environment, including Canadian greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions attributable to the production of Canadian infrastructure assets, GHG emissions per value-added and clean input proportion. The estimates are part of a series of similar linkages undertaken in collaboration with the Canadian Centre for Energy Information.
New results from the Canadian Veteran Health Survey
New results from the Canadian Veteran Health Survey, which provides information on the transition from military to civilian life, general health and well-being, chronic conditions and labour force participation, are now available upon request.
