Balance sheet of the agricultural sector, December 31, 2021
The value of equity in Canada’s farm sector totalled $627.2 billion on December 31, 2021, up 10.0% from the same date a year earlier. This was the largest percentage increase in farm equity since 2013. Equity increased in all provinces, led by Ontario (+19.7%) and British Columbia (+15.6%). Gains in equity were driven largely by increases in farmland values.
Monthly Survey of Manufacturing: Flash estimate, May 2022
Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for May. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales fell 2.5% in May. The decline was mainly due to lower sales in the motor vehicle and primary metal industries.
Wholesale trade: Early indicator, May 2022
Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the wholesale trade sector for May. The advance results for May indicate that wholesale sales rose 2.0%. The increase reflects higher sales in the food, beverage and tobacco subsector and the machinery, equipment and supplies subsector.
