The number of employees receiving pay or benefits from their employer—measured in SEPH as payroll employment—increased by 166,900 (+1.0%) in April.
Pathways indicators for registered apprentices in Canada, 2019
A new study looks at certification rates for the 93,430 apprentices who began their training in 2013 and where they were in 2019, six years into the program. It found that those who registered in 2013 were less likely to certify in their trade and more likely to discontinue, compared with those who had registered in 2011 and 2012.

The value of farm equity in Canada rose 4.4% to $563.2 billion as of December 31, 2020, despite total liabilities (+5.8%) rising at a faster pace than total assets (+4.6%) for the third consecutive year.
Wholesale trade: Early indicator, May 2021
Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the wholesale trade sector for May. The advance results for May indicate that wholesale sales increased 1.1%. Higher sales in the machinery, equipment and supplies subsector led the increase.
Monthly Survey of Manufacturing: Flash estimate, May 2021
Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for May. Advance results indicate that manufacturing sales rose 1.0% in May, reflecting widespread growth in several industries.
