National tourism indicators, first quarter 2019

Tourism spending in Canada rose 0.6% in the first quarter. Increased spending by both Canadians and international visitors in Canada contributed to the rise.

Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $1,023 in April, up 0.7% from March. Compared with 12 months earlier, earnings grew by 2.9%.

Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, April 2019

Aircraft take-offs and landings at Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations increased 4.0% in April. Ninety airports combined to reach 485,031 movements, compared with 91 airports totalling 466,365 movements in April 2018.
