Canadian international merchandise trade, April 2020
Exports fell 29.7% to $32.7 billion in April, the lowest level in more than 10 years. Imports fell 25.1% to $35.9 billion, a value not seen since February 2011. Canada’s merchandise trade deficit with the world widened from $1.5 billion in March to $3.3 billion in April.
Canadian Perspectives Survey Series 2: Monitoring the effects of COVID-19, May 2020
From March 29 to April 3, Statistics Canada conducted a statistically representative survey to see how Canadians were coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, Statistics Canada is publishing the first results of a follow-up survey conducted from May 4 to May 10, which show that the pandemic continues to have a strong impact on the behaviour and well-being of Canadians.
Canadian international trade in services, April 2020
Canada’s monthly international trade in services balance went from a deficit of $1.1 billion in March to a surplus of $302 million in April. Overall, imports of services fell 30.7% to $7.8 billion and exports declined 20.5% to $8.1 billion, primarily the result of lower travel services. For imports, this was the lowest level observed since July 2009, and for exports, the lowest level since June 2013.
Detailed preliminary data on confirmed cases of COVID-19, January 15 to May 26, 2020 (revised data)
An updated set of preliminary data on the number of confirmed novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases reported by the provincial and territorial public health authorities to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is now available. Along with this dataset, there is now one aggregated table that summarizes the information available in the data set. The updated information covers the period from January 15 to May 26, 2020.
