New Housing Price Index, April 2017
Buyers of new homes in Canada saw prices rise 0.8% in April, the largest monthly increase since May 2016. Higher prices in Toronto and Vancouver led the gain.
Employer pension plans (trusteed pension funds), fourth quarter 2016
The market value of Canadian trusteed pension funds totaled $1.7 trillion at the end of the fourth quarter of 2016, up 0.4% from the previous quarter.
Canadian portfolio investment abroad, 2016
Canadian holdings of foreign securities increased by 4.2% to $1,741.4 billion at the end of 2016. However, this growth was well below the strong gains recorded in each of the previous four years. Canadian portfolio investment abroad accounted for 40% of Canada’s total international assets at the end of 2016, compared with a 25% share 20 years ago.
Health Indicators
A new edition of the publication Health Indicators is now available. It includes updated health region level estimates of population counts, dependency ratios and unemployment rates, as well as provincial and territorial level estimates of rates of low birth weight.
