Employment Insurance, January 2018
The number of regular Employment Insurance beneficiaries fell by 5,800 or 1.2% in January to 494,200, continuing a downward trend that began in October 2016.
Distributions of household economic accounts for income, consumption, saving and wealth of Canadian households, 2017
New estimates from Distributions of Household Economic Accounts indicate that in 2017, the top 20% of income earners held 49.0% of household wealth, down from 50.3% since 2010. The lowest two quintiles increased their share of household wealth between 2010 and 2017.
Canada’s population estimates, fourth quarter 2017
According to preliminary estimates, Canada’s population was 36,963,854 on January 1, 2018, up 78,805 from October 1, 2017. In the fourth quarter, Canada’s population growth rate was 0.2%.
Government Finance Statistics, fourth quarter 2017
Quarterly data for Government Finance Statistics (GFS), a system that presents fiscal statistics using the international standard GFS developed by the International Monetary Fund, are now available. This standard allows consistent aggregation and analysis between participating countries.
Construction Union Wage Rate Index, February 2018
The Construction Union Wage Rate Index (including supplements) for Canada remained unchanged in February compared with the previous month. The composite index increased 1.0% in the 12 months to February.
