In 2018, about 1.1 million Canadians were unemployed at some point in the year. Of these, 63.9% (709,000) had contributed to the Employment Insurance program.

New house prices were up 0.2% nationally in September—the largest increase in two years.

Today, Statistics Canada is introducing the new Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) that can be used to track the change in the average price of homes in six select census metropolitan areas (CMAs). According to this measure, while residential property prices have risen by 9.2% from the first quarter of 2017 to the third quarter of 2019, with much of the increase occurring prior to the second quarter of 2018.
Biannual Survey of Suppliers of Business Financing, first half of 2019
The total value of outstanding credit granted to Canadian corporations at the end of the first half of 2019 was $957.7 billion, up $39.4 billion (+4.3%) from the second half of 2018. Compared with the same period in 2018, total business credit outstanding increased by $80.8 billion.
