In September, 446,500 people received regular Employment Insurance benefits, down 14,300 (-3.1%) from August.
Quarterly financial statistics for enterprises, third quarter 2018
Canadian corporations earned $107.5 billion in operating profit in the third quarter, up $4.0 billion or 3.9% from the second quarter.
Food services and drinking places, September 2018
On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales in the food services and drinking places subsector were up 0.5% to $6.1 billion, in September. Higher receipts were reported at limited-service restaurants (+0.5%), special food services (+2.3%) and full-service restaurants (+0.2%). Sales at drinking places were down 0.9%.
Surveying and mapping services, 2017
Surveying and mapping service industries, which includes geophysical and non-geophysical surveying and mapping, saw an increase in their operating revenue in 2017. This is the first time operating revenue has increased since 2014. Revenue rose 10.6% to $2.3 billion in 2017, following a 12.7% decline in 2016.
Aquaculture, 2017
Sales of aquaculture products and services increased 3.0% from 2016 to $1.4 billion in 2017 due to ongoing higher prices for finfish products since 2016. Finfish sales increased 3.2% to $1.3 billion in 2017, accounting for 91.9% of sales of aquaculture products and services.
Construction Union Wage Rate Index, October 2018
The Construction Union Wage Rate Index (including supplements) for Canada was unchanged in October compared with the previous month. The composite index increased 0.8% in the 12 months to October.
