Payroll employment, earnings and hours, September 2015
Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $955 in September, up 1.0% from the previous month. Compared with 12 months earlier, average weekly earnings increased by 1.7%.
Quarterly financial statistics for enterprises, third quarter 2015
Canadian corporations earned $79.0 billion in operating profits in the third quarter, down 5.4% from the previous quarter. The decrease resulted from a $2.4 billion drop in profits in the financial sector and a $2.1 billion decline in non-financial enterprises.
Electric power statistics, September 2015
Canada’s demand for electricity declined 3.7% from September 2014 to 38.5 million megawatt hours (MWh) in September. Lower demand contributed to the 2.3% decrease in total generation, as power plants produced 43.7 million MWh for the month.
Coal and coke statistics, September 2015
Monthly data for September on the production and export volumes of coal, by coal type and use, are now available. Data are available at the Canada level and by coal-producing province.
Characteristics of international overnight travellers, second quarter 2015
Canadian residents made 8.0 million overnight trips abroad in the second quarter, spending $11.4 billion. Of these trips, 5.2 million were to the United States, accounting for $6.5 billion worth of spending.
Production and disposition of tobacco products, October 2015
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.9 billion cigarettes in October, down 5.4% from September. Cigarette production increased 4.0% from the same month a year earlier.
Construction Union Wage Rate Index, October 2015
The Construction Union Wage Rate Index (including supplements) for Canada was unchanged in October compared with the previous month. The composite index increased 1.3% in the 12 months to October.
