Canadian international merchandise trade, September 2022

In September, Canada’s merchandise exports rose 1.3%, while imports increased 0.4%. As a result, Canada’s merchandise trade surplus with the world widened from $550 million in August to $1.1 billion in September.

Building permits, September 2022

The total value of building permits in Canada fell 17.5% in September to $10.2 billion, the largest recorded monthly decline. This was the first time all survey components posted monthly decreases since September 2019.

Canadian international trade in services, September 2022

Canada’s monthly international trade in services deficit narrowed $224 million from $1.8 billion in August to $1.6 billion in September. Overall, exports of services increased 2.3% to $12.9 billion, while imports edged up 0.5% to $14.5 billion.

Canadian Income Survey: Territorial estimates, 2020

In 2020, families and unattached individuals living in the Northwest Territories had a median after-tax income of $95,500, compared with $92,200 in Nunavut and $82,300 in Yukon. Territorial after-tax income remained relatively unchanged from 2019. The median after-tax income in each of the three territories was higher than in any of the Canadian provinces in 2020.

Operating revenue in the Canadian advertising and related services industry grew by 12.6% in 2021, as demand for these services rebounded following the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Operating revenue reached $11.3 billion in 2021, matching the previous high attained in 2019.
