Employment Insurance, August 2017
The number of regular Employment Insurance beneficiaries decreased by 9,600 (-1.8%) to 524,200 in August. This decline continues a downward trend that began in October 2016.
Travel between Canada and other countries, August 2017
Just over 2 million US residents visited Canada in August as Canada 150 celebrations continued, 0.8% more than in July and a 3.9% increase compared with the same month in 2016. Over the first eight months of 2017, the number of US residents travelling to Canada was up 1.5% compared with the same period last year.
Births and stillbirths, 2014
In 2014, there were 384,100 live births in Canada, up from 380,323 in 2013. This represented the highest annual number of live births since 1994 when 385,114 live births were registered. Of the live births in 2014, boys accounted for a slight majority at 51.2%, while girls made up the other 48.8%.
