Employment Insurance, August 2016
Regular Employment Insurance (EI) beneficiaries in Canada totalled 563,000 in August, down 3.0% from the previous month. This decrease followed a 5.0% increase in July, when legislative changes to the EI program came into effect. On a year-over-year basis, the number of beneficiaries was up 23,700 (+4.4%).

Opening inventories of crude oil and equivalent products held in pipelines and terminals totalled 12.0 million cubic metres in August.

Secondary distributors in Canada sold 26.0 billion litres of refined petroleum products in 2015, down 1.4% from 2014.
Study: Updating the standard population and its effect on cancer incidence and mortality rates, 1992 to 2012
The standard population used to derive age-standardized rates in Canada was recently updated to one based on the 2011 Canadian population. Previously, the standard population was based on the 1991 Canadian population.
Study: International students in Canadian Universities, 2004/2005 to 2013/2014
The international student population at Canadian universities almost doubled in the decade from 2004/2005 to 2013/2014, rising from 66,000 students to 124,000. In 2013/2014, international students represented 11% of all students on Canadian campuses, up from 7% in 2004/2005.
