Regular Employment Insurance (EI) beneficiaries in Canada totalled 575,200 in July, up 4.4% from the previous month. This unusual month-to-month increase can be explained by EI legislative changes that came into effect in July 2016.

Just over 25 million tonnes of non-hazardous waste was sent to private and public waste disposal facilities in 2014, up 2% from 2012, according to the 2014 surveys on waste management in the business and government sectors.

The Construction Union Wage Rate Index (including supplements) for Canada was unchanged in August compared with the previous month. The composite index increased 0.2% in the 12 months to August.
