Foreign direct investment activity slowed considerably in Canada and globally in 2020 amid upheavals caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, the stock of both Canadian direct investment abroad and foreign direct investment in Canada continued to increase, the growth in the investment position abroad exceeding that of investment in Canada.

Dairy statistics, February 2021

The total amount of milk sold off farms in February increased by 0.6% year over year to 750 823 kilolitres. Meanwhile, milk sold off farms for fluid purposes increased 0.4% to 212 300 kilolitres. Milk sold off farms for industrial purposes rose 0.7% year over year to 538 523 kilolitres.

Number and salaries of full-time teaching staff at Canadian universities (partial), 2020/2021

Today, Statistics Canada is releasing the first results from the Full-time University and College Academic Staff System (FT-UCASS) survey for the 2020/2021 academic year. This partial release includes data from 86 of the 111 public degree-granting institutions that had reported data by April 9, 2021. A final release for the 2020/2021 academic year, with data for all public degree-granting institutions, will be available in the fall of 2021.
