Hours worked and labour productivity in the provinces and territories (preliminary), 2019
Business productivity rose in eight provinces in 2019. Moreover, in the four Atlantic provinces and Quebec, productivity grew at a faster pace than in 2018.
Study: Selecting economic immigrants from among temporary foreign workers and labour market outcomes by admission programs
Statistics Canada is releasing the last two of a series of five studies that provide a broad overview of the increasing importance of temporary foreign workers in the selection and labour market outcomes of new immigrants in Canada. These studies are conducted in collaboration with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Employer pension plans (trusteed pension funds), first quarter 2020
The market value of assets held by Canadian trusteed pension funds fell 3.3% to $2.02 trillion in the first quarter. Despite this quarterly drop, the funds posted a year-over-year increase of 2.5%. The overall decrease in the quarter was mitigated by the performance of the largest 10 funds, which hold nearly 50% of the total assets, and whose market value fell an average of 1.5%.
