Employment Insurance, October 2016
In October, 575,200 people received regular Employment Insurance benefits, little changed (+2,700 or +0.5%) from the previous month.
Wholesale trade, October 2016
Wholesale sales increased 1.1% to $56.6 billion in October, offsetting most of September’s 1.5% decrease. Gains were recorded in five subsectors, led by higher sales in the building material and supplies, motor vehicle and parts, and food, beverage and tobacco subsectors.

Opening inventories of crude oil and equivalent products held in pipelines and terminals totalled 11.7 million cubic metres in October.

Egg production increased to 63.1 million dozen in October, a 7.0% increase from the same month a year earlier.

Investment in new housing construction increased 4.9% year over year to $5.0 billion in October.
Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, October 2016
There were 444,564 aircraft take-offs and landings at the 91 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations, compared with 476,099 movements in October 2015.

Logging, 2015
Revenue from activities for the logging industries totalled $9.4 billion in 2015, a 2.4% increase from 2014. The two types of logging activities, logging (except contract) and contract logging, accounted for $4.7 billion each.
