Canadian international merchandise trade, December 2016
Canada’s merchandise trade balance with the world recorded its second consecutive monthly surplus, narrowing from a revised $1.0 billion in November to $923 million in December. Exports were up 0.8% while imports increased 1.0%.
Chain Fisher real export and import values, December 2016
The monthly chain Fisher real dollar values (reference year 2007) for Canadian international merchandise trade are now available for December.
Export and import price indexes, December 2016
Current-weighted and fixed-weighted export and import price indexes (2007=100) on a customs or balance of payments basis are now available based on the 2007 North American Product Classification System.
Building permits, December 2016
Municipalities issued $7.2 billion worth of building permits in December, down 6.6% from November. Lower construction intentions were recorded for all components, led by commercial buildings and multi-family dwellings. In the residential sector, eight provinces posted declines while Ontario reported a record high.
