Wholesale trade, November 2018
Wholesale sales fell 1.0% in November to $63.0 billion, more than offsetting the 0.7% increase in October. Sales were down in five of seven subsectors, representing about 82% of total wholesale sales.
Monthly Survey of Manufacturing, November 2018
Manufacturing sales fell 1.4% to $57.3 billion in November, the second consecutive monthly decrease. The decline in November mainly reflected lower sales of petroleum and coal products. Excluding this industry, manufacturing sales rose 0.2%.
Food services and drinking places, November 2018
On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales in the food services and drinking places subsector increased 0.7% to $6.1 billion in November. Higher sales at full-service restaurants (+1.6%) and special food services (+1.3%) more than offset the declines in October. Sales at drinking places were up 0.5% in November, while sales at limited-service restaurants edged down 0.2%.
