Travel between Canada and other countries, May 2019
The number of arrivals to Canada from overseas countries reached a record high for the month of May since modern record keeping started in 1972. This was also the seventh consecutive year-over-year increase for the month of May since 2013.
Food services and drinking places, May 2019
On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales in the food services and drinking places subsector increased 0.2% to $6.2 billion in May. Higher sales were reported in limited-service (+0.8%) and full-service (+0.3%) restaurants. Sales decreased in special food services (-2.2%) and drinking places (-2.2%). Higher sales were reported in eight provinces, with the greatest increases in dollar terms being in Quebec (+0.8%) and Ontario (+0.3%). Alberta (-0.6%) and New Brunswick (-1.5%) posted the only decreases in May.
