A heated discussion: Who uses air conditioning in Canada in 2025?

In 2025, just over two-thirds (68%) of Canadian households reported using air conditioning or similar cooling equipment to offset the summer heat. This release describes the characteristics of households that reported having air conditioning, as well as related energy-saving behaviours that may help reduce the energy footprint of Canadians.

National culture indicators, fourth quarter of 2024 and first quarter of 2025

Real gross domestic product (GDP) growth for the culture and sport sectors in Canada decreased by 0.5% in the first quarter of 2025, a second consecutive quarterly decline following a 0.3% decrease in the fourth quarter of 2024. On a nominal basis, GDP for the culture and sport sectors increased 0.2% in the first quarter of 2025 following a 0.4% increase in the previous quarter.

Retail Commodity Survey, April 2025

Quality of life indicators from the Canadian Social Survey, first quarter 2025
