Canadian Internet Use Survey, 2020
The Internet was a lifeline for many Canadians in 2020. It was where we worked and studied, how we stayed in touch with loved ones, and increasingly, where we shopped. The Canadian Indicator Framework: A complement to the global sustainable development goal indicators focused on Canadian priorities
Today, Statistics Canada is launching the Canadian Indicator Framework (CIF) for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a foundational component for Canada to track and report on progress on its priorities for achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The agenda, adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015, is a 15-year global framework centred on an ambitious set of 17 SDGs. It is a call to action to promote prosperity while protecting the planet, and it is a holistic approach that links the three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental.

Food services and drinking places, April 2021
On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales in the food services and drinking places subsector fell 11.7% to $4.4 billion in April 2021 compared with the previous month, as the third wave of COVID-19 and its resulting restrictions swept across the country. Sales declined at full-service restaurants (-21.3%), limited-service restaurants (-4.5%), special food services (-12.4%) and drinking places (-22.0%). Nine of the provinces reported lower sales with the largest decrease in Ontario (-16.1%) as a province-wide stay at home order came into effect on April 8. The next largest decreases were in British Columbia (-14.4%) and Alberta (-12.5%) as indoor dining was restricted in both provinces.
