Criminal court outcomes of Black accused persons in Canada
The Juristat article released today examines court decisions, sentencing outcomes, case lengths and selected sociodemographic characteristics of Black adult accused persons in Canadian criminal courts from 2016/2017 to 2022/2023. Where relevant, comparisons by type of offence, fiscal year and province/territory are made.
Internal trade in Canada: Value of interprovincial trade of manufactured goods and wholesale trade, 2024
The value of total interprovincial trade (including trade with and between territories) of manufactured goods rose 0.7%, from $166.2 billion in 2023 to $167.4 billion in 2024, while that of wholesale goods rose 1.5% to $562.5 billion.
Monthly Survey of Manufacturing: Advance indicator, February 2026
Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales increased 3.8% in February. The largest increases were in the transportation equipment and food subsectors.
Nursing and residential care facilities, 2024
The operating revenue of private nursing and residential care facilities increased 7.1% to $20.6 billion in 2024. The gain in part reflects population aging, with Canadians aged 65 years and older representing 19.0% of the population in 2024. Ontario (40.3%) continued to be the largest contributor to the revenue of private nursing and residential care facilities, followed by Quebec (26.0%) and British Columbia (13.7%). The Atlantic provinces’ share continued to edge up in 2024; the proportion of residents aged 65 years and older in this region is comparatively high and well above the national average.
Specialized design services, 2024
Specialized design services saw operating revenues rise 4.3% to nearly $4.7 billion in 2024, up for the fourth consecutive year.
