Total public and private expenditures for elementary and secondary education rose 2.3% from a year earlier to $58.0 billion in 2017/2018, double the increase of the previous school year.

Electricity supply and disposition, 2019

The total amount of electricity generated in Canada decreased by 1.1% to 633.4 million megawatt-hours (MWh) in 2019, a drop of 6.9 million MWh from the previous year. The main driver for the decline was a drop in hydroelectric generation in Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, and British Columbia. Newfoundland and Labrador saw a drop of 2.5% (-1.0 million MWh) in hydroelectric generation, Ontario dropped 5.4% (-2.1 million MWh), and British Columbia’s hydro generation fell 9.2% (-5.7 million MWh). Manitoba, however, increased its hydroelectric generation in 2019 by 7.2%, or 2.2 million MWh.
