Building permits, September 2016
Municipalities issued $6.9 billion worth of building permits in September, down 7.0% from August. The decrease was attributable to lower construction intentions for non-residential buildings, led by commercial structures. Conversely, in the residential sector, the value of permits increased for a second consecutive month.
Apartment Building Construction Price Index, third quarter 2016
The composite price index for apartment building construction rose 0.3% in the third quarter compared with the previous quarter. The quarterly gain was the result of slight increases in the price of materials in some census metropolitan areas (CMAs).
Non-residential Building Construction Price Index, third quarter 2016
The composite price index for non-residential building construction rose 0.4% in the third quarter compared with the previous quarter. The increase was the result of higher material prices reported by contractors in the structural and architectural trades in Vancouver.
