Retail trade, August 2019
Sales in the retail trade sector edged down 0.1% in August to $51.5 billion. Sales were down in six subsectors, representing 51% of retail trade.
Travel between Canada and other countries, August 2019
Travel by US residents to Canada was 1.9% higher than in August 2018 and reached its highest level for the month since 2007.
Food services and drinking places, August 2019
On a seasonally adjusted basis, sales in the food services and drinking places subsector increased 0.3% to $6.2 billion in August. Higher sales were reported in full-service restaurants (+0.4%) and limited-service restaurants (+0.4%), whereas sales in drinking places decreased 0.5%. Sales at special food services remained unchanged.
