Activities of Canadian majority-owned affiliates abroad, 2017
Employment at Canadian majority-owned affiliates abroad increased 4.4% to 1.45 million in 2017, while sales rose 3.7% to $685.4 billion.
Effective tax rates and high income Canadians, 2017
Individual Canadian tax filers spent, on average, 11.4% of their modified total income on federal and provincial/territorial income taxes and employee contributions to Employment Insurance (EI) and the Canada Pension Plan / Quebec Pension Plan in 2017. This was down from 11.8% in 2016 and was the second lowest rate in the last 26 years, only marginally higher than the 11.3% effective tax rate in 2009 and 2010.
Food services and drinking places, July 2019
Sales in the food services and drinking places subsector declined 0.4% to $6.2 billion in July on a seasonally adjusted basis. Sales were down at limited-service restaurants (-0.6%), full-service restaurants (-0.4%) and drinking places (-1.4%), while sales increased at special food services (+1.3%).
