Food services and drinking places, July 2018
Sales in the food services and drinking places subsector were up (+0.4%) for the third consecutive month, totalling $6.1 billion in July.
Dairy statistics, July 2018
Canadian dairy processors produced 42 459 tonnes of cheese (cheddar and variety cheese, excluding processed and cottage cheese) and 30 584 tonnes of yogurt in July. Quebec held the largest share of national cheese and yogurt production in July, accounting for 52.9% of total cheese production and 76.7% of yogurt production.
Quarterly civil aviation statistics, first quarter 2018
The number of air carriers decreased from 26 in 2017 to 25 in 2018, as one Level II air carrier was reclassified to Level IV. Total operating revenue for the 25 largest Canadian air carriers increased 10.4% from the first quarter of 2017 to $6.1 billion in the first quarter of 2018. Total operating expenses grew 11.5% to $6.0 billion, largely because of higher fuel and labour prices.
Production and disposition of tobacco products, August 2018
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.8 billion cigarettes in August, up 0.1% from July. Cigarette production decreased 0.7% compared with August 2017.
