Criminal victimization in Canada, 2019
In 2019, one in five Canadians—19%, or close to 6 million people 15 years and older—indicated that they or their household had been a victim of a type of crime measured by the General Social Survey on Victimization. Young people, women and people with a minority sexual orientation were most at risk.
Economic and Social Reports, August 2021
Today, Statistics Canada released six articles on early learning and child care (ELCC) in Economic and Social Reports (ESR). The purpose of this edition is to highlight the breadth of information available on ELCC at Statistics Canada, information that is important to Canadians. These articles feature results from the 2019 and 2020 versions of the Survey on Early Learning and Child Care Arrangements, the 2019 Canadian Health Survey on Children and Youth, the 2016 Census of Canada, and multiple years of the Canadian Business Register.
Airport activity, 2020
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic crippled the aviation industry and brought an abrupt end to 10 consecutive annual increases in air passenger traffic. The total number of passengers enplaned and deplaned at Canadian airports dropped to 45.9 million in 2020, a decrease of 71.8% from the previous year.
Railway carloadings, June 2021
Canadian railways carried 29.5 million tonnes of freight in June. This was a slight increase (0.5%) from June 2020 (29.4 million tonnes), when rail traffic volumes fell to a four-year low because of widespread shutdowns at the onset of the pandemic.

Wholesale trade: Early indicator, July 2021
Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the wholesale trade sector for July. The advance results for July indicate that wholesale sales fell 2.0%. The decrease reflects lower sales in the building material and supplies subsector.
Production and disposition of tobacco products, July 2021
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.1 billion cigarettes in July, down 18.2% from June 2021. Cigarette production was 39.1% lower compared with July 2020.
