Environmental and Clean Technology Products Economic Account, 2007 to 2016

The environmental and clean technology products economic account measures the contribution of environmental goods and services in the Canadian economy, including products such as clean energy, waste management, environmental and clean technology product manufacturing and other technical services. Environmental and clean technology activities accounted for 3.1% or $59.3 billion of Canadian gross domestic product (GDP) in 2016 (in nominal terms). This ratio has remained relatively stable over the 10-year period, edging up from 3.0% in 2007.

Employer pension plans (trusteed pension funds), second quarter 2017

The market value of assets held by Canadian trusteed pension funds was $1.78 trillion in the second quarter. This was down 1.0% compared with the previous quarter, but up 7.5% from the second quarter of 2016.

Production and value of honey, 2017

The total value of honey produced in Canada increased from $169.3 million in 2016 to $188.0 million in 2017, up 11.1% mainly due to higher prices. Production decreased 2.6% over the same period.

Maple products, 2017

Maple production increased 3.0% from 2016 to 12.5 million gallons in 2017, as a result of more taps in most maple-producing provinces. Production was up in all maple-producing provinces.
