Consumer Price Index, November 2018

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.7% on a year-over-year basis in November, following a 2.4% increase in October. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI declined 0.2% in November.

Annual wholesale trade, 2017

The operating revenue of Canadian wholesalers increased 10.4% in 2017, topping the $1.0 trillion mark, which was last reached in 2014. The increase was led by the petroleum products subsector, but all the other subsectors also reported higher revenue. Excluding petroleum products, operating revenue increased 5.5% compared with 2016.

Health Reports: Comparison of self-reported and accelerometer-measured physical activity in Canadian adults

Canadian adults may not be doing as much physical activity as they think they are. A new article released in today’s Health Reports compares the amount of activity people said they did with results from an accelerometer, a device that objectively measures physical activity. The measured amount was less than half of the self-reported amount (23 minutes versus 49 minutes per day).

Experimental monthly estimates of international trade in services

International trade in services is becoming an increasingly important indicator of Canadian economic growth. Currently, Statistics Canada releases annual and quarterly measures of international trade in services. Over the last year, the agency has conducted research into various data sources and research methods aimed at producing monthly estimates of trade in services.

Amusement and recreation industry, 2017

The amusement and recreation industry reported a combined increase of 7.1% in its operating revenue, totalling $11.1 billion in 2017. Businesses operating fitness and recreational sports centres accounted for over one-third of the total.

Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, October 2018

There were 500,410 aircraft take-offs and landings at the 91 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations in October compared with 479,630 movements in October 2017.
