Consumer Price Index, May 2019
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 2.4% on a year-over-year basis in May, following a 2.0% increase in April. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.3% in May.

Social capital is a concept that describes networks of relationships, and refers to individuals’ social ties, such as friends, associations or communities. Having strong community or family ties in a new country can assist immigrants in adapting to a new culture.
Canada’s population estimates, first quarter 2019
During the first three months of 2019, due to a sustained inflow of immigrants, Canada’s population increased by 98,410 persons, representing a quarterly population growth of 0.3%. On April 1, 2019, Canada’s population was estimated at 37,412,852 persons.

Estimates of the number of census families for Canada, the provinces and territories, as of July 1, 2018, are now available. These estimates are broken down by family structure (couple or lone-parent). Revised estimates as of July 1, for the years 2006 to 2017, are also available.
Health Reports: Analysis of trends in the prevalence of cannabis use and related metrics in Canada
Since the legalization of cannabis for non-medical use in October 2018, more Canadians are using cannabis, but they are not using it more often. From 2018 to 2019, rates of cannabis use increased from 14% to 18%, particularly among males (16% to 22%). The proportion of Canadians aged 15 and older that reported using cannabis on a daily or almost daily basis (6%) was unchanged from one year earlier, when non-medical cannabis use was still illegal.

In the first five and a half months following the legalization of cannabis, Canadian governments earned $186 million from excise taxes and general taxes on goods and services directly related to the sale of cannabis.
Pension plans in Canada, as of January 1, 2018
Membership in registered pension plans (RPPs) in Canada was more than 6.3 million in 2017, up 1.0% or 62,800 members from 2016.
Environmental management practices by Canadian businesses, 2016
In 2016, just over half of businesses (51%) had at least one environmental management practice. This percentage, however, varies by industry group and enterprise size, and some practices are used more than others. For instance, nearly one-quarter (23%) of Canadian businesses had an environmental management system in 2016, while 11% performed a greenhouse gas emissions inventory.
