Natural resource indicators, first quarter 2019
Real gross domestic product of the natural resources sector fell 1.9% in the first quarter, after a 1.2% decline in the previous quarter. Despite rebounds in energy and mineral resource prices, total volumes continued to decline.

The volume of rail freight carried in Canada totalled 32.7 million tonnes in April, up 6.3% from the same month a year earlier.
Annual telecommunications statistics, 2017 (final)
In 2017, operating revenues for the telecommunications industry rose 2.4% from the previous year to $62.4 billion. During the same period, operating expenses increased 2.5% to $48.8 billion. Overall, the industry generated a 21.7% operating profit margin.
