Statistics Canada is releasing new data on the gender composition of leadership and strategic decision-making roles within publicly traded corporations, privately held corporations and government business enterprises operating across a variety of industries in Canada.
Securities statistics, fourth quarter 2025
Canadian governments and corporations borrowed a net $55.9 billion in the form of debt securities in the fourth quarter, down from net issuances of $88.5 billion in the previous quarter. The financing activity in the fourth quarter was largely in the form of long-term instruments and led by the government sector.
Software development and computer services, 2024
Canada’s software development and computer services industries recorded sustained growth in 2024, as operating revenue increased 8.5% to $161.9 billion. The industries—comprising computer systems design and related services; software publishers; and computing infrastructure providers, data processing, web hosting, and related services—continued to expand their client base amid an evolving, technology-driven business environment in Canada and internationally.

Today, Statistics Canada is publishing estimates from the Quarterly Rent Statistics program for the fourth quarter of 2025, for 42 census metropolitan areas. This program provides experimental estimates on the asking rent of available rental units listed on major rental platforms in Canada.
