Monthly Survey of Manufacturing, January 2016
Manufacturing sales rose 2.3% in January to $53.1 billion, the highest level on record.
Canada’s international transactions in securities, January 2016
Foreign acquisitions of Canadian securities reached $13.5 billion in January, mainly private corporate debt instruments. At the same time, Canadian investors reduced their holdings of foreign securities by $13.8 billion, principally equities.
Canada’s population estimates, fourth quarter 2015
According to preliminary estimates, Canada’s population was estimated at 36,048,500 on January 1, 2016, up 62,800 from October 1, 2015. In the fourth quarter, Canada’s population growth rate was 0.17%, twice the rate observed for the same quarter in 2014 (+0.08%).
Trucking Commodity Origin and Destination Survey, 2014
The Canadian for-hire trucking industry hauled 745.5 million tonnes of freight in 2014, up 7.9% from 2013. The growth was attributable to both increased domestic and transborder shipments.
