Canadian international merchandise trade, January 2019
Canada’s exports were up 2.9% in January, mainly on the strength of higher crude oil export prices. Imports rose 1.5%, led by higher aircraft imports. As a result, Canada’s merchandise trade deficit with the world narrowed from $4.8 billion in December to $4.2 billion in January.
Distributions of household economic accounts for income, consumption, saving and wealth of Canadian households, 2018
The average net saving for Canadian households was $852 in 2018, while the highest income quintile saved $41,393 per household. Conversely, households in the lowest income quintile had net dissaving of $27,935, as on average they consumed more than their annual income and either had to incur debt or draw down previous savings to finance their consumption.
Payroll employment, earnings and hours, January 2019
Average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $1,012 in January, little changed from the previous month. Compared with 12 months earlier, earnings grew by 2.0%.
Real estate rental and leasing and property management industries, 2017
Lessors of residential and non-residential real estate and real estate property managers generated $109.2 billion in operating revenue in 2017, up 4.7% from 2016. These industries reported operating expenses of $71.5 billion, an increase of 3.8% over the previous year. The operating profit margin edged up from 34.0% in 2016 to 34.6% in 2017.
Railway carloadings, January 2019
The volume of rail freight carried in Canada totalled 32.2 million tonnes in January, up 7.8% from the same month a year earlier.
Air fares, third quarter 2018
Base air fares in Canada, domestic and international combined, averaged $244.50 in the third quarter, down 0.2% from the same quarter in 2017.
Production and disposition of tobacco products, February 2019
Canadian manufacturers produced 1.8 billion cigarettes in February, down 0.5% from January but up 21.3% compared with the same month a year earlier.
Computer and peripherals price indexes, February 2019
The price of desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers was unchanged in February.
Commercial Software Price Index, February 2019
The Commercial Software Price Index (CSPI) decreased 0.1% from January to February.
