Farm income, 2015
Realized net farm income rose 9.2% from 2014 to $8.1 billion in 2015, following a 19.1% rise the previous year. The gain in 2015 was the fifth in six years.
Farm cash receipts, first quarter 2016
Farm cash receipts for Canadian farmers totalled $15.5 billion in the first quarter, up 3.9% from the same quarter in 2015. Gains in crop receipts were more than enough to offset declines in livestock receipts and program payments.
Oilseed crushing statistics, April 2016
Oilseed processors crushed 613 249 tonnes of canola in April. Oil production totalled 265 914 tonnes, while meal production was 348 540 tonnes.
Milled wheat and wheat flour produced, March 2016
Millers milled 242 810 tonnes of wheat in March, while wheat flour production totalled 185 723 tonnes.

Data on major grain deliveries are now available for April.
Federal government spending on science and technology, 2016/2017 (intentions)
Total expenditures by the federal government on science and technology are expected to increase 1.0% from 2015/2016 to $10.7 billion in 2016/2017. The gain is largely attributable to an anticipated rise in spending in the social sciences and humanities, as expenditures in natural sciences and engineering are expected to decline.
Machinery and Equipment Price Index, first quarter 2016
The Machinery and Equipment Price Index (MEPI) increased 2.6% in the first quarter, following a 1.9% gain in the fourth quarter. The purchase price of machinery and equipment rose for the third consecutive quarter. The import component was up 3.1%, while the domestic component rose 0.7%.
