Gross domestic product, income and expenditure, third quarter 2016
Real gross domestic product grew 0.9% in the third quarter, following a 0.3% decline in the second quarter. Exports of energy products, rebounding from a second quarter decline, boosted growth. Growth in final domestic demand decelerated to 0.2%.
Gross domestic product by industry, September 2016
Real gross domestic product rose for the fourth consecutive month in September, growing 0.3%. Higher output in the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction sector was the major contributor to the increase.
Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, October 2016
The Industrial Product Price Index rose 0.7% in October, led by higher prices for energy and petroleum products. The Raw Materials Price Index increased 3.3%, mainly due to higher prices for crude energy products.
Couriers and Messengers Services Price Index, October 2016
The Couriers and Messengers Services Price Index (CMSPI) increased 0.1% in October. The couriers component rose 0.1% while the local messengers and local delivery component was unchanged.
Food services and drinking places, September 2016
Total sales in food services and drinking places subsector increased by 1.6% in September. Sales surpassed $5.5 billion for the month and recovered all of the decline seen in August. Prices for food purchased from restaurants were 2.5% higher than they were a year earlier.
Railway carloadings, September 2016
The volume of rail freight carried in Canada totalled 29.8 million tonnes in September, down 1.6% from the same month last year.
