Gross domestic product by industry, August 2018
Real gross domestic product rose for a seventh consecutive month, edging up 0.1% in August. Growth was concentrated in oil and gas extraction and finance and insurance, which more than offset declines in 12 of 20 industrial sectors.
Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, September 2018
The Industrial Product Price Index edged up 0.1% in September. Higher prices for chemicals and chemical products and energy and petroleum products were largely offset by lower prices for primary non-ferrous metal products. The Raw Materials Price Index decreased 0.9%, primarily due to lower prices for crude energy products.
Couriers and Messengers Services Price Index, September 2018
The Couriers and Messengers Services Price Index (CMSPI) decreased 0.2% in September, after posting no change in August. This was the first decrease since September 2017.
Aircraft movement statistics: Major airports, August 2018
Aircraft take-offs and landings at the 91 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations decreased 1.3% in August to 549,354 movements, compared with 556,485 movements in August 2017.
Monthly Passenger Bus and Urban Transit, August 2018
Total operating revenues (excluding subsidies) for urban transit companies were $312.4 million for August.
Electric power thermal generating station fuel consumption, 2017
Electric utility thermal plants in Canada generated 194.8 million megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity in 2017, down 3.5% from a year earlier.
Electricity supply and disposition, 2017
Canada generated 650.2 million MWh of electricity in 2017, up 0.6% over the prior year. Canada’s two most populous provinces, Ontario and Quebec, accounted for 56.0% of the generation.
