Model-based principal field crop estimates, August 31, 2018
Canadian producers are looking at a record corn for grain crop this fall. Statistics Canada’s model-based principal field crop estimates forecast record production of 14.5 million tonnes of corn for grain. Canola production is estimated to be 21.0 million tonnes, while soybean production is estimated to be 7.5 million tonnes.
Activities of Canadian majority-owned affiliates abroad, 2016
Employment at Canadian majority-owned affiliates operating abroad increased for the fifth consecutive year in 2016, rising 4.9% from 2015 to 1.39 million. Higher employment activity at affiliates in the United States and Mexico led the growth. Sales of foreign affiliates (+2.6%) also rose during the year.
Health Reports: Progress in net cancer survival in Canada over 20 years
Just under half of all Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime, while approximately one-quarter of Canadians are expected to die from this disease. Cancer survival estimates, which provide a measure of disease severity and prognosis, are critical to the monitoring of progress in cancer outcomes when examined over time.
