Retail trade, July 2015
Retail sales rose for the third consecutive month in July, up 0.5% to $43.3 billion. Sales increased in 6 of 11 subsectors, representing 55% of retail trade. Higher sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers and clothing and clothing accessories stores accounted for most of the gain.
Spending on research and development, 2015 (intentions)
Canada’s gross domestic expenditures on research and development (GERD) are expected to decline for a third consecutive year, down 0.7% from 2014 to $31.6 billion in 2015.
Civil aviation operating statistics, July 2015
The two major Canadian air carriers flew 4.7 million passengers on scheduled and charter services in July, up 8.3% from the same month in 2014. On average, each passenger travelled 2 888 kilometres, up 1.2% compared with July 2014.
Large urban transit, July 2015
Total operating revenue (excluding subsidies) for 10 of Canada’s largest urban transit systems rose 2.1% from the same month in 2014 to $273.8 million in July.
