Natural resource indicators, second quarter 2019
Real gross domestic product for the natural resources sector rose 3.6% in the second quarter, after falling for two consecutive quarters. This upturn was driven by a substantial increase in crude oil and bitumen extraction.
Air fares, first quarter 2019
Base air fares in Canada, domestic and international combined, averaged $233.90 in the first quarter, up 1.1% from the same quarter in 2018 and reversing the downward trend that began in the second quarter of 2018.
Railway carloadings, July 2019
The Canadian rail network carried 33.3 million tonnes of freight in July, up 1.0% compared with July 2018. This was the third consecutive increase for the month of July.
Dairy statistics, July 2019
The total amount of milk sold off farms decreased 0.3% year over year to 775 897 kilolitres in July. Meanwhile, milk sold off farms for fluid purposes increased 1.4% to 221 222 kilolitres. Milk sold off farms for industrial purposes decreased 0.9% to 554 675 kilolitres.
