In national innovation policy, the knowledge and concerns of Indigenous peoples are often treated as constraints to be overcome rather than strengths to be supported.
Canada is once again investing heavily in innovation as a nation-building strategy. Recent federal commitments focused on talent attraction, emerging technologies, and infrastructure being framed as essential to strengthening this country. These investments matter. But there is a critical absence in how innovation is currently being imagined and governed both in federal policy and public discourse.
