The Indigenous, women-led geothermal projects powering Fort Nelson and strengthening local food security.

Cindy Bond and Andrea Warren, leaders of Tudeka Geothermal, outlined how a 100 per cent Fort Nelson First Nation-owned project could deliver dependable electricity and heat to one of British Columbia’s most remote communities.

Fort Nelson sits along the Alaska Highway and endures frequent power outages that disrupt gas stations, grocery stores, and other essential services. Tudeka’s plan would tap heat from the earth to supply roughly 7 to 14 megawatts, enough to power the community and neighbouring Nations while strengthening food security.
