The Yukon’s minimum wage set to increase

Press Release

February 5, 2026

Effective April 1, 2026, the Yukon’s minimum wage will increase from $17.94 to $18.51 per hour. This adjustment reflects a 3.2 per cent rise based on Whitehorse’s 2025 Consumer Price Index, ensuring wages keep pace with inflation.

Wage rates for workers on Government of Yukon public works contracts have also increased by 3.2 per cent based on Whitehorse’s 2025 Consumer Price Index. Those rates can be found in the Fair Wage Schedule for 2026.

Quick facts

  • The minimum wage increases April 1 every year.
  • The annual increase is tied to inflation and is calculated using the all-items Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Whitehorse, which is an effective way to measure inflation.
  • Minimum wage increases are laid out in the Employment Standards Act regulations and came into effect by Order in Council August 1, 2021, pursuant to the Employment Standards Board order.
  • The Fair Wage Schedule sets the wage rates for workers on Government of Yukon public works contracts. Rates are adjusted on April 1 every year based on the CPI for Whitehorse.
