March 10, 2026— The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) is celebrating another successful year at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada Convention 2026 (PDAC), where Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario stood out on the international mining stage.
PDAC 2026 proved to be a standout year, with strong momentum, positive energy, and growing global interest in the region’s mining sector. Throughout the conference, Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario were at the centre of conversations about exploration, development, and the future of mining in Canada.
“Thunder Bay’s future as Northwestern Ontario’s mining hub is prosperous and strong. said Jamie Taylor, CEO of the Thunder Bay CEDC. “Our team did an excellent job building relationships, working with both existing and new companies, and showcasing Thunder Bay as one of the best and most strategic locations for mining and exploration service and supply companies.”
A key highlight of the week was the Thunder Bay Mining Link event, hosted by the CEDC, which welcomed a record 220 attendees. The event brought together local service and supply companies, government leaders, Indigenous partners, and industry representatives to celebrate collaboration and the strength of the region’s mining ecosystem.
The event featured remarks from several government leaders, including Hon. Patty Hajdu, Hon. Stephen Lecce, Hon. George Pirie, Hon. Kevin Holland, MP Dr. Marcus Powlowski, and Mayor Boshcoff. Each speaker highlighted Thunder Bay’s vital role in Ontario and Canada’s mining sector.
